For Patients
What to expect from your evaluation.
We want your visit to feel as comfortable and be straightforward as possible. Here's a look at what testing involves, what your appointments will be like, and how to prepare.
What Does Testing Actually Involve?
No needles, no scans, nothing invasive.
Testing involves a series of standardized tasks and exercises that look at different areas of thinking, including memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and more. Some tasks involve answering questions, some involve paper and pencil, and some may be done on a computer. There are no needles, scans, or anything invasive involved.
There's no way to "study" for these tasks, and there's no passing or failing. Everyone performs differently across different areas, and that's expected and useful information in itself.
What Does the Process Look Like?
Three separate appointments.
Intake Meeting 1 hour
01
A conversation to understand your history and current concerns. You're welcome to bring a family member or anyone else who supports you to this appointment.
Testing Session Minimum 3 hours
02
The structured testing portion of your evaluation, completed one-on-one with Dr. Kravitz or our Registered Testing Technician. The time spent depends on the scope of the presenting issue. This appointment is for the patient only, family members or support persons are welcome to wait in our waiting room during the session.
Feedback Session 1 hour
03
We'll go over your results together, answer your questions, and provide you with a copy of your full report. A copy is also sent to your referring physician. You're welcome to bring a family member or trusted support person, an extra set of ears is often helpful when taking in this much information at once.
What Does an Evaluation Cost?
Medicare and private pay options.
Legacy Neuropsychology accepts Medicare. We are not contracted with any other insurance plans.
For Medicare patients: Your referring physician will submit an order, along with your Medicare information, to our billing department. We will then submit this to Medicare for approval. Once approval is received, our office will call you directly to schedule your appointment, there's no need to call us to check in. If you have questions about whether your order has been submitted, please follow up with your referring physician's office, since they are the ones submitting it on your behalf.
For private-pay patients: The cost of an evaluation is determined individually based on the scope and complexity of testing required for your specific situation. Please contact our office for current pricing information.

What Referring Doctors and Patients Are Saying
-
I was referred to Dr. Kravitz by my neurologist for evaluation of my memory with concern about developing dementia in the context of my family history. Not only was she professional and kind, but it was clear to me that she went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable, felt seen/heard and understood her report. Hands down one of the best experiences i've had with a doctor.

Dr. Kravitz is what happens when a world-renowned expert also feels like your closest friend. With her decades spent teaching, researching, and caring for patients at the nation's top institutions, she continues to bring warmth and authenticity that allow her to connect with people on a deeply personal level.

I walked into my appointment looking for answers. I left with answers, a plan, and peace of mind. Dr. Jena is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate. She has a remarkable ability to explain complex information in a way that's easy to understand while making you feel truly cared for. I never felt rushed, and I always felt like I mattered. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a neuropsychologist who combines expertise with genuine kindness.
